02 - Where software meets the board

The hardware edge

Most software engineers stop at the connector. At Goldfinger - an industrial touchscreen manufacturer - the debugging continues onto the board itself.

Root cause · oscilloscope

DRAX back-feed diagnosis

Diagnosed a power back-feed defect across 130 DRAX GPC boards via oscilloscope analysis; traced the back-feeding through the ULN2803 and specified a diode fix on the 12V rail, driving production rework.

Regulatory · spectrum analyzer

FCC compliance testing

Led FCC compliance testing on AD boards with a spectrum analyzer, validating emissions mitigation through to regulatory pass.

Customer application

Designed and built the customer-facing LED Controller web application, letting customers configure GF LED controllers and save and load profiles across multiple units.

Separately, delivered a firmware customization for the company's largest customer by independently learning the firmware architecture - zero follow-up issues reported.

Industrial touchscreen manufacturer

Sales Engineer

May 2024 – Present

Designed and built the LED Controller web application, letting customers configure GF LED controllers and save and load profiles across multiple units.
Built an automated Logic Box test application and fixture, replacing subjective DRAX board pass/fail judgement with deterministic, traceable results for production and RMA teams.
Developed modules of the MANAGE manufacturing platform in React - parts and assemblies database, manufacturing order flow, and shipping/warehouse functionality - and introduced React Router for direct-linkable navigation.
Built a Kanban board from scratch inside MANAGE, giving developers visibility of customer-reported bugs and feature requests and measurably speeding resolution.
Sole technical escalation point for all RMA cases across two sites; designated company SME for touchscreen, all-in-one, and logic box product lines.

Lead Systems Integrator & Systems Specialist

October 2019 – May 2024

Co-designed a Linux-based POS system, building the Linux server backend that hosted the Java front-end application.
Developed and deployed POS and card-reader software in a lab environment for on-site rollout: 200 units deployed with zero failures.
Traveled to Vietnam for six weeks to assess manufacturing quality control and drive defect resolution on-site.
